When we think of technology the things that come to mind are ; super computers, microchips, robots, cars, Global Positioning System (G.P.S), PDA, the list goes on and on. However, original if you type in the term on Wikipedia, it states that the term technology was used as a concept as that deals with knowledge of tools and craft. In today’s era, that meaning is still true; we now have terms for specific things "construction technology", "medical technology", and "state-of-the-art technology.
Of course, the human race has advance so much in all of its technological fields. We have medical machines that are used to preserved life even though the body is in a vegetarian state. We have computers that can do math, calculations, and logarithms in seconds that will take us usually from minutes to hours. We have machines (i.e Robots, androids) that have the ability to move around and communicate to an extent. Scientist have created artificial limbs for those who have theirs amputated for different reasons.
Also it’s simply amazing to see how much it has advance, in the 1960’s they only starting making computers and no one even had their own since it was too big and expensive and now every home in America has at least one, portable or not.
And like we have discuss in class not every culture has ability to advance this high yet, and others choose to advance in some areas while ignoring the rest. Personally in my home country of Cambodia the technology there is still a long way from America. Not every home there has electricity all the time, the toilet aren’t flushable so u need to pour in your own water. However, like the native Americans , when we think of them we still have the images of people who lives in huts and are still hunters and gathers, this is not true, but it is what we are expose to and that is all we know. But now though as we think about Native Americans a new image is created, gambling, slot machines, poker, blackjack, paigow, etc… The Native American tribes have created casinos I different areas as a means on income. In California one casino I know of is Jackson Rancheria casino. Unlike other casinos like Reno, boomtown and those on the Vegas strip, this one allows adults at 18 and over to enter. I am not even going to lie; on my 18 birthday the first legal thing that I did was go to Jackson and tried my luck.
For now it seems like technology will only keep on advance who knows maybe one day we won't need school, all the information can just be sent directly into our minds.

So I was surfing through channels last night on TV and I came across this clip on The Discovery Channel which showed scientists working on a way of doubling or even tripling lifespans that came in a form of a pill that would be available in our lifetime. This was really interesting to me. It made me wonder if people would actually want to live longer, if some cultures or religions would be against this? Then there is there question of how much money these pills would cost and who they would be available to.
Then I read your post and realized that you're right, it is incredible that technology has advanced so much in such a short time span, and that maybe this is the reason that some cultures are less advanced than others. Maybe with time, every culture will be caught up in technology with one another and evolve into a single massive culture. With technology advancing so fast, who knows what we have coming in the next few years.
Interesting a pill that can increase your life span I did not know one of those exist or was in production. But in terms of living longer I dont think that is something I would do, postpone my death through medince, Like would you extend your life when it's clear that you shouldn't be alive? I think thats the problem these days, like how darwin has his theory of survive of the fit, only the strong survive. If we didn't have such advance medical technology there could be less disease since those who will be infect, couldn't infect others , since it wont get spread? So it is kind of hard to tell if being able to live long is good or not, what do you think?
“The human race has advanced so much in all of its technological fields...” are the type of statements I will be pushing all of us to be careful with throughout the class. I am not convinced this is true, particularly because I am not sure what “human race” or “advanced” are: you go on to provide certain examples, but even then, “advanced this high” takes for granted that your audience will agree with you that technology correlates with some form of cultural, social, scientific, political (and so on) advancement. I appreciate your link to “state-of-the-art,” but be sure not just to allow a link to stand on its own, as if your reader will understand your point by clicking on it and reading the next website. For example, the first sentence argues that “state-of-the-art” refers to the “highest form of development.” Those are all terms that concern me, particularly “development.” What does it mean? How are we to know? Thomas’ comment, and his use of the specific example of the life-extending pill, is a nice way of completing your post because it provides us with something very specific to “chew” on, if you will. I am glad that you have replied to his comment, which suggests another benefit to this medium: others will fill in the gaps of our writing by asking questions or providing some point of knowledge that in turn helps us rethink the development of our posts. Also, remember to use formal language, by which I mean, capitalize “I” (it may be an ideological problem in English, but that is the rule for now), spell out words completely (“you” can never be “u”) and check for typos and other spelling errors. Some are sure to slip by, but again, approach this as you would any formal paper.
I am sorry, that state of the art link was not supose to be there, it was just example of different kind of technology, I must of accidently added the link when i copy and paste state of the art. I am sorry if it cause anyone any confusion
